The original tanks were quite robust and relatively failure-proof, but thirty-plus years of service life will leave some tanks brittle and prone to cracking, especially at the lower nipples where the fuel line attaches. If you are resealing your fuel tank (2WD or Syncro), it is a good time to install all new vapor tanks and float valves. Do it once, do it right!
