On waterboxer engines, leaks at the rear end are often mistaken for a bad oil pumpwhen, in reality, the real culprit is usually the sealing surface on the V-belt pulley just above it. Over time, that seals mating surface on your 30 -year-old pulley wears down, and simply replacing the seal often wont fix the leak.
