A loose connection in this area can cause all sorts of strange noises under load that just don’t seem like they could possibly be coming from the torque converter bolts, but they often are. We have seen shops tear engines down completely looking for a noise that turned out to be coming from a loose connection between the torque converter and flexplate. We recommend NEW bolts every time be used every time they are removed.

Install note: It is imperative to verify that the threaded holes in the torque converter be clear and clean, and the threads chased with a M8x1.25 tap. Never re-use old bolts!
